I picked up a film this week that finally became available on DVD...

THE MONSTER SQUAD !

I loved this film when I was a kid and I probably love it even more today. It was co-written by one of my favorite screenwriters, Shane Black and is great escapist fun.

Long live the eighties... (wiping a tear from my eye)

So I just started a new workout this week and it consists of doing the following:

1. Standard jumping jacks – as many as possible for 1 minute
2. Squats, just using your body weight – 20 of these
3. Standard push-ups – as many as you can in 1 minute
4. Jogging on the spot (bring your knees right up) – 1 minute
5. Lie down on tummy, arms out to the side, lift legs chest and arms off floor – 20 times
6. Lunge – 20 times
7. Twisting the torso (rotate from the tummy) 20 times each direction
8. Side bends – 20 dips each side
9. Wall sit – for as long as possible
10. Dips (just use a chair or bench) – as many as you can for 1 minute

You need to be able to do this routine 3 TIMES THROUGH WITHOUT A PAUSE IN BETWEEN each exercise.

Let me just say that I feel really good...

Translation: I am in a lot of pain...

And yes, I do look a lot like Jean-Claude Van Damme... I get that a lot ;)

I live in Port Moody, about 5 mins away from the only Kwik-E-Mart location in Canada (Coquitlam, BC).

I paid a visit to it several weeks ago and below are some of the results...

I can't wait to check out The Simpsons Movie this coming weekend (great job on the marketing by Fox -- bravo!)

98 - STOP - ALL

I am 29 and I have stopped buying comic books.

Is it the age or is it that I just simply lost interest in the storylines being told? I don’t know. Whatever it is -- it is sad.

Comic books were an integral part of my life and now they are no more. It is like losing a best friend -- it hurts.

My friend says my relationship with comics was like a marriage. I loved them to death at first and now it has just fizzled out...

I disagree.

I think of my relationship with comic books as more of a drug dealer and drug user type relationship. I “needed” them at one point in my life to get me through the ordinary, but now I have other things like my screenwriting that capture my imagination. If you really think about it -- I guess I just stopped being lazy. Instead of looking to a piece of material to feed me stories and images, I have now reached a stage where I now prefer to create my own.

Nonetheless, I will always remember the sweet escapes...

Thanks for the memories...
